Images to ICO Converter
Turn your logo into a professional Favicon. Convert images to the ICO format for websites and desktop applications.
Every professional website needs a Favicon—that little logo you see in the browser tab next to the page title. The Images to ICO Converter is the easiest way to create one. Simply upload your company logo or image, and we convert it into a standard .ICO file that works on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Windows. No coding skills required.
What is an ICO File?
The ICO format is unique because it is a "container" for multiple images. Unlike a PNG which is just one size, a single ICO file can hold multiple versions of your icon inside it:
- 16x16 pixels: Used for browser tabs.
- 32x32 pixels: Used for taskbars and bookmarks.
- 48x48 pixels: Used for desktop icons.
When you use an ICO file, the computer or browser automatically picks the best size for the screen, ensuring your logo always looks crisp and never blurry.
How to Create a Perfect Favicon
Follow these steps to brand your website:
1. PrepareUse a square image (like 500x500). PNG is best because it supports transparency.
2. ConvertUpload your file. Our tool resizes and formats it into the ICO standard automatically.
3. InstallDownload the file. Rename it to favicon.ico and upload it to your website's root folder.

If you upload a PNG with a transparent background, we keep it transparent. No ugly white boxes around your circular logo.
✔ Automatic Downscaling
You don't need to shrink your image first. Upload a high-quality version, and we handle the resizing algorithms to ensure the tiny 16x16 icon is still readable.
✔ Universal Compatibility
The files we generate are compatible with all modern frameworks (WordPress, React, HTML5) and operating systems (Windows 10/11, MacOS).

Frequently Asked Questions
Why not just use a PNG as a favicon?
Modern browsers do support PNG favicons, but .ICO is still the only format supported by every single browser (including older Internet Explorer versions) and is required for the icon to show up properly on Windows desktop shortcuts.
What is the best size for an input image?
We recommend uploading a square image that is at least 512x512 pixels. This gives us enough data to create high-quality downscaled versions.
Can I convert ICO back to PNG?
Yes. If you have an old favicon and lost the original logo, you can use our PNG Image Creator to extract the image from the ICO file.
Does this work for App Icons?
Yes, but mobile apps (Android/iOS) usually prefer PNG files. For websites and Windows software, ICO is the correct choice.
